MCP · Setup

Set up the StartupKit MCP server.

Remote Streamable HTTP — no stdio, no installs. About two minutes end to end.

Three steps

Key, config, done.

  1. 1Get an API key. Sign up free, open Settings in the dashboard, and create a key (it starts with sk_). One key works for MCP, the CLI, and the API.
  2. 2Add the server to your client. Paste the config below into your client's MCP settings (mcp.json for Claude Code and Cursor, similar for Windsurf and others).
  3. 3Ask your agent for the tool list. It reads the catalog over the wire — you should see 17 startupkit_* tools. Try: 'use startupkit to research keywords for my product.'
mcp.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "startupkit": {
      "url": "https://mcp.startupkit.com/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer sk_your_api_key"
      }
    }
  }
}

Per-client notes

Claude Code, Cursor, and the rest.

Every MCP client takes the same URL + Bearer header — only the file location differs. Client-specific guides live on their own pages.

Prefer the terminal?

The npx startupkit CLI hits the same API with the same key — research commands without an MCP client.
